The Voluntary Initiative (VI) is a five year program of research, training and awareness raising agreed by the crop protection, farming and related organizations with Government to minimize the environmental impacts of pesticides.

This initiative is focussed on delivering environmental improvements, especially biodiversity and water quality. The Voluntary Initiative is a first for our sector, and is undertaking activities in three main areas:

• Research
• Training
• Communication and Stewardship

Overlaying these main areas are three themes into which various activities fall:

• Protecting Water Quality
• Benefiting Biodiversity
• Promoting Best Practice

All our staff are NPTC qualified and are fully committed to protecting the environment.
